Oh Suga

sugar

Sugar, it’s everywhere, and seems to be added to everything these days!!! Let me ask you something…have you ever looked at the ingredients in some of the food you buy? Do you pay attention to what is being added to your food? Also did you know that when your Pepsi can tell you it has 36 grams of sugar, it means that there is 36…36!!! Sugar packets in that one little can of soda. And don’t get me started on the diet crap out there! I ask these things because I recently went on a sugar detox for 21 days, I think it is good to cleanse and restart your gut every now and then. With this detox I had to read a lot of labels, as is the no sugar there are also no carbs, no fruit, no carrots or tomatoes, but most importantly no candy no cookies no cake…now bear with me its only 21 days. But you will be amazed at what happens to your body when you clean up that diet of yours.

Let’s start with day one, yeah, I’m thinking this is easy any one can do this, day two…okay woke up a little sluggish and is that chocolate I smell? LOL surely not! Oh, then there is day three, good ole day three, woke up with a headache, my body feels weird. Why am I so hungry, and again is that chocolate I smell? Day four through six are well about the same. But day seven, well that is a whole new ball game, again with the headache, the wind blowing was annoying me, the sounds of my dogs eating, I felt like everything just rubbed me the wrong way. I thought to myself, why am I doing this. And when is this feeling going to go away? Well fast forward to day ten, hmmm no headache. In fact, I hadn’t had a headache in a couple of days. No longer did I feel sluggish or bloated. I felt leaner and full of energy, when I ate my meals, I felt satisfied, there was no sugar crash. I wasn’t hungry right after I ate.

The days got easier, so did the choices I was making in the kitchen and when I had a busy day in front of me. I planned my meals I ate with a purpose, not out of boredom. I was also down 2 inches in my waist. After my 21 days was over, I slowly added my fruit back into my diet and the veggies I couldn’t eat. I didn’t crave the sugar, really, I didn’t even want it. My body got the reset it desperately needed. My metabolism got a jump start and I also lost a few pounds. Even though that was not my goal. But I also was not mad about it either. I think everyone should cleanse, cleanse their mind their body and their soul. Whether it be with eliminating something in your diet, or in your everyday life. Whatever it may be trust the process and stick with it. You can do anything you put your mind too!
