Chanting Practice (Part 3)
Another one of my favorite chants is “Sarva Mangala.” It goes like this…
Sarva Mangala Mangalye
Shive Sarvartha Sadhika
Sharanye Trayambake Gauri
Narayani Namostute
The meaning of the song is this:
The one who bestows auspiciosuness on one and all, the one who accomplishes all objectives, to the mother of the three worlds, O Gauri, I bow again and again to you.
To me, it is such an enlightening and empowering chant. It gives praise to the one that aids in overcoming obstacles and encourages lasting life.
Mother Gauri is Devi, Shakti or the Mother Goddess, who appears in many forms, such as Durga, Parvati, Kali, and others. She is auspicious, brilliant and protects the good people while punishing those who perform evil deeds. She symbolizes creating a path of light so that one can live to their highest potential.
