Let’s talk self-care, what does it look like to you? There are all sorts of different ways to self-care. Weather it is reading a book, getting your hair done, your nails, pedicures. Whatever your choice is there is no wrong way to take care of yourself. The most important thing is that you actually do it, actually take the time to take care of yourself.

As a mom, business owner, partner, friend, it’s hard to find the time. I love to get my nails done and get pedis. I find the best self-care for myself is getting away to the mountains. Clearing my head with a good hike. Maybe climb a mountain, and when I can’t escape to my beloved mountains. I find trails close to me, or sometimes just a good workout helps. Being in the fitness industry I am always telling people that we make time for what is important.

Well just as much as work, family and bills are important. Self-care should be at the top of your list. Even if it is sitting in the dark just breathing, taking a hot yoga class. I actually love taking a yoga class when I am feeling down. I also love to crochet; it may not seem like a fun thing to do. But it is something I can do and shut my brain off for even just a little while. Get lost in the stitch count. Painting is another great way to self-care.

I will leave you with this. When you are going through your schedule, looking at your calendar for the week, making all the plans. Scheduling the kids’ appointments. Please make sure that you put yourself in that calendar too. Don’t pencil yourself in, schedule yourself in sharpie!! You are just as important as all those things. In fact, you are the most important!
