Twas December In the Fitness Center

Twas the first day of December, pumpkin pie still in the fridge
The stomach was grumbling, but the mind still afraid
The six pack was close still trying to appear
In hopes of a sighting before the new year.

The children were full of sugar and carbs
While the parents dreamed, of an ice cream with sprinkles and a beer
Mom sneaking Dutch Bros, and Dad sneaking Snickers
All was fine, yet desires felt sinful!

When out on the socials the influencers created
We scrolled through the feed to see who was better
Away to the gym we flew like a flash
Only to realize we can’t keep up with photoshopped models.

The gym lighting glow on our biceps and glutes
gave hope of a sighting of abs soon near
When my eyes caught a glance of not one
But two and a half abs have appeared!

Once Obese and unhealthy, now fit and trim
I knew in that moment that one splurge would not kill
More strength & more power come every day
Once foe, now friend the mirror became!

First biceps and triceps, then hamstrings and quads
One ab, then two, come on how about 4!?
To the floor for a plank, then a bridge and some sit ups
Feel the fat melt away & away & away!!

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! As we start back to work and get closer to Christmas, I know we all have a lot on our minds. This can be a stressful time for many people. Money, health, relationships, and family can all cause different emotions in us. Don’t forget to take a little time for yourself.

Don’t be afraid to have some Christmas cookies at a party. Enjoy a cocktail with your spouse at the end of a long week. We all need to unwind every once and a while. Just remember to get back on track. Don’t go on a week-long drinking spree. You don’t have to try every desert at every single party. Enjoy yourself, then get back on track.

Time during the holiday season is hard to find. There is shopping to do, parties to attend, children’s concerts to attend, etc. There is every excuse possible to skip going to the gym this December. Find a way to stay disciplined. Find a way to push yourself. Find a way to step inside the gym and get a workout. Find a workout program that you can follow along with at home. Just find a way to have some healthy time for yourself.

As always, if you need to reach out to me for advice or personal training, look me up on Facebook or Instagram under @ElectricNutritionandFitness

If you see me in the gym, come talk to me! Come watch how I am training my son during wrestling season. He is working hard, getting better every day! It’s fun to see someone so young, work so hard.
